Overview
Kow Niew is a branding project of a Thai/Lao restaurant. It was an opportunity to share my culture with others. The name “Kow Niew” means “sticky rice” in the Lao language. This is a place where you eat delicious Thai and Lao dishes and learn about their culture. It is a fun atmosphere if you want to try sweet, savory, and spicy foods.
Problem
There aren’t many Thai/Lao restaurants. Therefore, people don’t know too much about our cuisine and culture. Vietnamese food is mostly recognized in Southeast asian cuisine. Some of these restaurants are very traditional and old-fashion too.
Goal
My goal is to build a brand with a balance between traditional and modern design. I kept it traditional by including information about their culture and creating a modern feel to my work. I also researched food photography to display the Thai/Lao dishes.
